There were five intraoperative or postoperative deaths. In addition, six fetuses with large cystic masses underwent thoracoamniotic shunting and five survived. Overall, in our experience, 17 out of 25 fetuses with hydrops who underwent fetal therapy (open surgery or shunting) survived, indicating that this is a feasible option in highly selected cases.
